I do not know who you are, but I am sure that you had at least one time in your life when you felt less than… less than someone else or maybe less than a group of people. You had at least this one time when you felt you do not deserve something or someone else has it all figured out in life unlike you.
On the other side, I am also sure that you had at least one time when you thought that you are better than someone else in something. Maybe in your set of skills, maybe in your knowledge, or appearance, or you have a better car or maybe partner or something else.
Why am I so convinced that both scenarios happened to you?
The answer is simple: we are humans, the ego is part of our personality, and it plays the comparison game in order to keep us safe.
While I respect the perspective of some people in the psychological area that we have to do our best to get rid of the ego, I disagree with it. The ego plays a certain role in our life, and it has to be there. However, our biggest task is to tame it, simply because having it tamed, we will live more peaceful and more calm life and remember: our power is hidden in our peace.
I am not sure how ready you are to hear that but: being “less” than someone else and being “more” than someone else is just an illusion. No one is more or less than the others, it’s just the ego playing tricks with you making you feel a certain way to protect you. Yes, we all have different set of skills, appearances, some have incredible talents and contributions to the development of the society, but it does not change the situation. So, before you get trap into the comparison game the next time, think about it in this way: “Is the rose better than the oak tree?” 🤔 They are different, but we cannot say which one is “better”, can we?
If you want to learn how to stop to compare yourselves to the others and to become enough simply by being, I recommend you watching the fifth Episode of my podcast “PERSPECTIVE OF THE MIND” with guest Amanda Johnson, who is an author and the founder and Chief Inspirational Officer 😊 of the publishing company “Awaken Village Press”. You can find the Episode here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPuylzmfVa8&t=197s
You may think that you are better than someone else and that immediately means that deeply inside you keep the fear of being less. You may think that you are less than someone else and it means that you have already measured your “better-ness” in other aspects. It is all interconnected.
The purpose of this Article is to help you stay grounded in your worthiness while acknowledging the awesomeness of the others, too. ✨✨✨
